Good morning all,

My mum has type 2 diabetes and is going for an endoscopy tomorrow.

She has been told to fast for 24hrs and the only advice she was given from her nurse was " don't take the gliclazide if you don't want".

Has anyone had to fast for 24hrs? If so, what were your experiences? How did you manage your blood sugar levels?

I am very grateful for any response - forewarned is forearmed....

Thank-you.

Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
Whenever I have to fast for surgery or a procedure, if the fast goes on too long my BG goes below 4.0 and I have a glucose drip, which keeps it at about 7. I find fasting uncomfortable enough without going so low I get symptoms from it.
