    Napping and hypos!

I've just got the freestyle libre and have noticed that I'll go to bed in the 5's with no active insulin onboard but in the night I'mdropping into the low 3's and then coming back up to normal range when I wake up. I've reduced my basal by a unit to see if that helps but it hasn't. Do you think...

    Scary experience, no idea why!!

Maybe the needle went into a blood vessel or muscle so was absorbed differently causing the hypo? I injected the other day and when I took the needle out lots of blood squirted out and then I got a hard lump and a big bruise the next day... Did abit of research and my conclusion was I hit a...

Amazed and Amazing - Thanks (& quick question)!!!

Me again... I think it takes 2/3 days for the change in your basal to take proper effect so don't expect a change straight away :) xx

Amazed and Amazing - Thanks (& quick question)!!!

Also like me you are in your early days so could be honeymooning that might explain the big drop that you didn't expect over night (your body produced some insulin itself) I say it's my early days but thinking about it it's been 10 months now... How time flys!!! X

Amazed and Amazing - Thanks (& quick question)!!!

Number 1: well done for taking action and control you are doing really well you should be proud of yourself! I also watch the carbs I'm eating and try and keep them low I know everyone is different but if that was me and my bloods were 7.2 I would eat 3g of carbs with me eggs and taken 1 unit...

    Cold hands and feet

I had my thyroid checked in May and it was fine then. Do you think it could of changed since then? DN said she didn't think it was diabetes related but I should ask my doc for full bloods anyway... I just think it's too much of a coincidence x

    Cold hands and feet

Is this diabetes related? I've been diagnosed for 7 months and I've always been a warm person but for the past couple of weeks my hands and feet have been frozen. For instance tonight at work I had the heating on, underfloor heating on, fluffy socks and a blanket and my feet and hands were...

    Yoghurt - odd behaviour

I'm the same with yoghurt... My bloods could be 5.6 i would have 100ml of natural yoghurt which is appox 4g of carbs I'm on a 1:10 ratio so inject 1unit which should effectively drop me and at lunch I would be 6.1 .... I know it's not a massive jump but it stills goes against what it should be...

    Skiing

I take my Lantus at 7.30pm and it lasts me all the way through too. However I have heard of some people splitting their basal presumably because it doesn't last them. X

    Spike round 2 !

Maybe try reducing your carbs? I worked out that your lunch maybe about 75g of carbs? 2x20g per slice of bread 20g- crisps 13g- yoghurt and then whatever filling you have on the sandwich.... I find that if I have more than 60g of carbs that my body struggles to digest it and my sugars will...

    Alcohol

I don't drink beer so not sure if I'll be of much help but.... I drink wine or gin and slimline tonic. It drops my blood sugar levels. I went out on Saturday started drinking at around 1pm, I had dinner out - lamb and potatoes with no insulin, checked my sugars at around 10pm and they were low...

You don't need to feel alone we are all in the same boat :) what would you like to talk about? Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I got diagnosed in May my Hba1c was 88. I had a checkup on Friday, I was no nervous before hand but it is now 40. I actually cried with happiness when she told me! It was just such a relief and shows me that all this low carbing and carb counting is having a positive effect and to carry on. I am...

Anyone people out there that will actually understand me?

Some one said to me the other day when I told him I was diabetic... 'You do know that diabetes is reversible.' How I didn't punch him in the face is beyond me. Haha.... The sad thing is he was generally trying to help me. Some people are absolutely clueless! X

    Honeymooners!?

I've just been doing some research into the ketosis diet I'm doing and it said this.... 'A popular trick people use to ingest more fat is “fat coffee” (sometimes called “Magic Bullet Coffee” or MBC). It involves adding one tablespoon of butter and one tablespoon of coconut oil to your...
