Can you give us a reference to this? I’ve got his Bad Pharma & Bad Science but I haven’t actually read them yet. Appreciated.

    Covid and type 1

When this is me, I raise my basal as well as bolus insulin. Of course I can’t advise, but that seems to work for me.

    Constantly needing more insulin

I myself often don’t take my own advice, but then I remember. Generally we can engage positively with what’s happening. Solidarity!

    Constantly needing more insulin

I think the advice you’re getting here is very good advice. I’d only add, that managing T1 is complicated and often frustrating. We just have to be methodical & a bit patient, & rather than beating ourselves up when the highs come, focus on working out why they did/what to do etc. So coursge.

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Amy, I bet you’re not alone. I found the same with Novirapid - often I left it an hour after injecting before eating. And Fiasp isn’t so different. As I said before, Fiasp just doesn’t get me down from high levels. And then, as with Novorapid, sometimes when I’ve injected more than the usual...

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Hello all, Just briefly. I’ be been trying Fiasp for the last nine months & I too find that a) Fiasp needs exercising - something gentle & aerobic, not resistance training - to work. And b) that once I am high, Fiasp really won’t bring me down. I have to concentrate on not *getting* high. Once...

Is Libre 2 more accurate than Libre 1?

Hi @MrsHJG, well, yes but my honeymoon is slowly deteriorating. So low carb has slowed the process, but my BG control is df deteriorating now. I used to get v little variation; now I have a lot more, and high BG routinely even after injecting Novorapid 30/40 mins ahead. TDD currently c 23u. I...

Is Libre 2 more accurate than Libre 1?

I’ve just used two Libre 2s & they’ ve both been very accurate. Whereas my Libre 1s are a complete lottery - sometimes they’re very good, sometimes they’re way off. What have you found, people?

    Methylphenidate/ritalin & blood sugar

Hi MPW! Finally saw this. No, alas, I just found that Concerta/ritalin very definitely boosted my sympathetic nervous system response & pushed BG levels (& blood pressure) right up. I then tried lisdexamphetamine, & the same thing happened. My psych. didn’t seem very aware of the problem, or...

Diabetes 1 and ADHD, anyone have both?

Hum. I have ADHD, and I get very bad anxiety sometimes, *and* I get extremely anxious sometimes about my T-1 when things go bad. So the two do interact & make each other worse. On meds, though, I found that both kinds of stimulant - Ritalin/methylphenidate and Lisdexamphetamine -...

    Eye dot flickering problem

You have to get it checked ASAP. It’s your vitreous humour detaching from the back wall of the eye. It’s quite normal & normally isn’t a problem, but because it *could* also tear the retina, which would be very serious, you have to get it checked. 95% of the time it isn’t. This just happened...

22M-Burned out and frustrated with Diabetes

Courage, Day Dreamer. Your circs are way tougher than mine (I only got diagnosed over 50), but that situation of sometimes just not being able to cope any more & letting everything go to hell is so familiar. But (1) ALL the bad things are reversible: read Bernstein’s story. And (2) you will get...

    Rise in blood sugar

Hang on to that HRT tooth & nail, Sheila. It won’t, in my experience, be causing raised BG. It will be keeping your metabolism in order. It’s a godsend for menopausal women & I wish people were less cagey about it. Medics I respect eg Pater Attia say it’s more clear that the Nurses’ Study was...

    Rise in blood sugar

Hi Sheila. It may be that having knocked yourself out of equilibrium, it will take your body a few days of (your) strictly optimal eating for your metabolism to right itself. I wouldn’t worry but would give it a week. That’s what happens to me. My situation is entirely different from yours...
