    Hospital Menu for diabetic person

Change the record, douglas! as per usual you flap your gums to what you want rather than listening to what has been said! I was talking about coeliac, so of course most diabetics would have no problems1

    Hospital Menu for diabetic person

BUT they would be complaining (and rightly IMHO) if a choice was labelled as suitable for coeliacs that was plainly unsuitable!

    Hospital Menu for diabetic person

@Catlady19 You ar obviously content to risk damage due to the abysmal slop fed to us in hopspital. I am not. End of story!

    Car insurance

Nevertheless, I follow the doctrine of uberrimae fidei which applies to contracts like insurance, if only to reduce the chance of them wriggling out of paying!

Easiest way to get prescriptions in different places

@isjoberg One solution I would suggest is to physically pick up your scripts (either yourself or via a surrogate(eg parent/partner) and present it to the pharmacist of your choice meanwhile try to build up a buffer stock to cope with delays.

Hairy Bikers Diet Club success stories

Forgive me if I'm out of touch with insulin, but a standard 100iu pen only holds 3ml so that 200ml would be approx 66 pens:nailbiting: that's beyond a mahoosive daily dose! even 200iu would probably be pretty high1 WRT proofreading, they probably don't have anyone so up on insulin dosing as us...

Thinking about "going green" in New Year

I too was the only(known) T2 in my family and was put on boplus & basal insulin. if I had been content to proceed along the medication road, I could have happily carried on. However, I was able to try and ight and luckily, I found the LCHF diet/WoE allowed me to shed first the insulin, and then...

    Confused, concerned and disappointed

@DebbieC I agree Xpert can be very good, but if the instructor isn't "up to date "on the course or still entrenched in the old "Eatwell Plate Dogma" then it can be less so. Dr Trudi Deakin is a member here BTW. The manuals can be obtained from http://www.xperthealth.org.uk/Shop

    Rye Bread

For me the main value of low GI foods is if my insulin system can dispose of the BG fast enough to cope with the food dumping glucose into my system and hence I am able to head off spikes! To this end, I would try the experiment and see if it spikes you excessively or not1

    Diabetes Education Courses

Even the Exellent X-pert courses can suffer by being filtered through the prejudices and ignorances of the local nurses who act as "educators"

Dropping insulin pen down the pan

Sorry, I spat out my coffee , cos I read it as Animal FART! edit: Apparently only English notes, as Scottish ones are not made using the same things. We remembered what happened in the "Indian Mutiny" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Causes_of_the_Indian_Rebellion_of_1857

    Gliclazide dose paradox

Whilst I was cutting back on Glic doses, I found that20mg would give myBG control a boost, in that one dose would keep in order for up to 5 days, then another 20mg would boost me for another 4-5 days!

    Baked beans

Found that if I ditched te "Heinzesque" beans and made my own baked bens (proper haricot - type beans, bacon lardons, & home-made tomato sauce) my blood didn't peak that badly! Must be that for me, beans release their carbs slowly enough that my insulin response can just cope with them.
