    Holiday info

Hi All, I will be flying to Spain in a couple of weeks for the first time since starting insulin. Is it true I need confirmation from my GP to take needles etc in hand luggage? Also any tips about coping with injections 3 times a day while on the move and in warmer climes gratefully received.

    More confusion!

Can anyone shed any light on these changing targets for me? I had been reduced carbing for a couple of years and had got my hba1c down to 6.5 from over 9 by diet, exercise and post meal testing - non of the oral meds worked for me. DN was very happy about this however levels started creeping up...

    Low BG warning

Prior to yesterday I thought hypos affected solely those on medication. After an egg, bacon and slice of Burgen breakfast I had a pretty active morning - long dog walk, 1 hour in workshop then handwashed my work van. As mother inlaw was coming for lunch we had a small prefood gin and tonic...

    Getting the hang of it!

Just to let you all know that after 4 weeks of trial and error I feel I am beginning to get the hang of low carbing: lunch today was mushroom soup, 3 chipolatas, 1 grilled tomato, 2 burgen slices with Olivio spread - 2 hrs after 6.1, 3 hours after 5.5. similar readings with other foods over the...

    Burgen

2 hours after Tescos tomato and basil soup with a slice of Burgen bread and my BG is 5.4! Thanks to all who suggested Burgen as a replacement for other breads that would have sent levels way up. Always a pleasure to discover something else that I can eat safely! :D

    Type 1.5

Hi all, Does anyone think there is a need for a type 1.5 section? While it is very interesting reading about other's experience of type 2 it doesn't really help me with my type 1.5 which has rather different characteristics and so needs treating differently. Any thoughts most welcome.

    Confused

Hi all, Started regular testing 2 weeks ago and after getting peaks of between 10 and 16 at first am now getting most after food readings below 8.5, however I am a little confused by some readings. Fasting readings have all been in the 3.9 - 5.5 range and mostly in the 4's. Two hours after a...

Hi everyone, I've just been reading through the posts on low carb diets after reading Blood Sugar 101 by Jenny Ruhl. which contradicts most of what I have been told in the 3 years since I was diagnosed!
