    High School & Puberty

Hi, I wondered about the same thing just recently. My son (12) is having great days and not so great days. He is still in his honeymoon, so when his sugars are out of control I always think honeymoon is over, only to see in a week's time that all is back to 'normal' with the normal small dozes...

    Snacking In Between Meals

It is an unfair battle, against a dirty opponent. My son had his share of disappointment and anger some 3-4 months after diagnosis. Did not last long, though. He's been very patient and diligent and cooperative. He is having the odd bad day, but all in all, we have it under control. Puberty...

    Snacking In Between Meals

It doesn't notify you. But every scan will give you a prediction, whether blood glucose is headed up or down. If you link the libre to the blucon or the miaomiao, you can have a real time insight into your son's BG on your smartphone. And you will be able to set alarms.

    Snacking In Between Meals

I am not quite sure how long it can last. I think it is not unusual to go over a year, but it is not so common. My son is gradually on the way out of his honeymoon, at least his endocrinologist thinks so, based on the progression in the HBA1C: 5.8; 5.9. 6.0, 6.5 against the insulin requirements...

    Snacking In Between Meals

My son is on the libre, and that is a great relief. Plus we use blucon nightrider, and that makes blood glucose monitoring even easier. We normally go to Greece for our holidays, and they sell these doughnuts rolled in sugar, probably one weighs around 150 grams (wild guess is that it would...

    Snacking In Between Meals

Hi @Jayden2407 I have been experimenting a lot with my son's snacks. He is not much of an eater, in terms of quantity, and he likes to have snacks between meals. What normally works for him: - nuts, cashews, almonds - a handful is a good snack and does not cause big spikes. - a handful of...

Blucon Nightrider + Smartwatch Wifi Connection For A 5 Year Old

So, @Ozu, As I wasn't quite convinced my answer was correct, I asked the xDrip facebook group. Here is what I got form there: "You have to use a full Android watch like the Finow Q1 Pro. We have a M9, which has a slightly better battery, but handling is better with the Q1 Pro. You don't need a...

Blucon Nightrider + Smartwatch Wifi Connection For A 5 Year Old

Hi @Ozu, I am not sure that I have the right answers for you. I haven't bothered with blucon/xdrip since we first installed it back in February. It has been working perfectly since then. My wife and myself are followers, using our phones, Samsung S7, Samsung A5. My son's phone is obviously the...

    White carb to complex carb

My son has been a type 1 for over a year now. Parboiled rice has little effect on his blood sugars compared to white rice. Buckwheat flour much better than white and wholemeal flour. Also, coconut and almond flour for pancakes. No drastic spikes that regular flour would definitely cause. Cheers

    End of honeymoon period

Hi, I too would like to hear what others have experienced. My son is type 1. In honeymoon for 13 months, at least his endo said his honeymoon was slowly coming to end. In the past month, he's been struggling to maintain decent levels.A month ago he was on 2 units of novomix in the morning and...

    Sensor Error

Happens quite often. Nothing serious in my experience. Goes back to normal within 10-15 minutes. Some say it is due to quick changes in the readings, but I can't confirm that.

    Type 1 Lantus air bubbles

I know bubbles are not so much of a problem. That they are static in this pen is what puzzles me...

    Type 1 Lantus air bubbles

Hi, New to lantus and just realised there are well over 10 tiny bubbles in the pen. I am accustomed to the odd single bubble in the novorapid and novomix pens, and the bubbles there move as I shake the pens trying to get the bubble out. The bubbles in the lantus pen are static, so I can't get...

    Daughter just diagnosed

Hi, Your daughter's hypo, could be that she is entering honeymoon. Please check regularly, the prescribed dose might be too high for her, in case her pancreas has decided to produce some insulin. My son had frequent hypos within a month from diagnosis, until we got the right dose of insulin...

    freestyle libre

Hi @nrcklam So much has been said about the libre on this forum. Information I shared is from personal experience, which doesn't differ much from what I had read earlier on this forum. Very rarely the results will match. https://www.freestylelibre.com.au/page/faqs/

    freestyle libre

Hi, the arrows are indicative, but they are not necessarily accurate. Even without any carb intake, the arrow might in 4-5 minutes change direction. Given that the libre gives you your glucose as it was 15 minutes ago, if you are low, you will probably know it before the libre tells you that you...

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

It might just be that. Very similar experience this morning with my son's gadgets. Libre showed 5.0 and a flat line for the past 3-4 hours. Xdrip showed 5.7 and a flat line for the past 3-4 hours. Finger prick showed 5.3. Calibrated to reflect the finger prick result. One hour later the alarm...

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

Thanks for that. I will check the battery more closely then. I was expecting it to last longer than two or three weeks.

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

Hi, Today I have been getting the missed signal note on xdrip+. Maybe 6-7 times. Missing signal for like 15-20 minutes, and then the readings will be displayed. Blucon is well secured. Phone is within few meters. Nothing out of the ordinary. My son's phone is the master and he noticed the...

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

Hi, www.freestylelibresticker.de They sell some plastic caps with rubber bands. You can order bands for replacement in different colours. A bit expensive, but it works. Kids would love this site, as they sell stickers to mask the sensor.
