    Hi Parents

If you have to self fund then look into the Dexcom G6 as this is a CGM and not a Flash monitor like the Libre. My son has the Libre which is funded but I am looking into the G6 as the benefits are greater.

    Hi Parents

Hi. My son just turned 12 and started senior school. Just less than a year since diagnosis. He never wants to go to the groups that are run but I make him and say it’s not just him but me that needs to ask questions. He always enjoys it in the end. He won’t have a pump but he does have the Libre.

Freestyle Libre sensor applied for first time

Hi. My 11 yr old son has the libre. We have been using it since Oct last year. He definitely prefers this to blood tests. Can just scan whilst in lesson without anyone seeing what he is doing. Just make sure you use tape over it as they don’t tend to stay put and at £60 each that’s not good. We...

Type 1 Can your Pancreas produce too much insulin

Hi. My 11 yr old son is 2 weeks post diagnosis of T1. It was picked up very early and as such he isn’t on insulin unless levels get too high. Some days his levels don’t go above 5 even after big meal. Other days it in the late teens with the same food types. Is it possible that because of his...

    Itchy bottom (sorry!)

My son was diagnosed yesterday with T1 (11years old). A few weeks ago we treated him for threadworms because he wouldn’t take his face out of the fridge and sweet jar. Just reading your comment made me think about it.

2 week blood testing for 11yr old son

Well I’m updating you from ward 40 LGI. Adam was admitted this afternoon as the final blood results came back and confirmed T1. Although diagnosed very early and not being particularly poorly they want him to stay in until the end of the week. [emoji26][emoji26][emoji26]

2 week blood testing for 11yr old son

Hi thanks for that. His first urine test was completely unrelated to any kind of illness. I took one for a routine hosp appointment just in case it was asked for - lucky I did really. The same day they did finger prick test and as it was 3 hours since he ate they were surprised that it was 12...

2 week blood testing for 11yr old son

Thanks Catapillar. It is the diabetic clinic that has advised to carry on as normal and test blood four times a day. He had his urine checked this morning because of the high levels and it was all clear. I don’t have the means to do it myself though. I will call the clinic first thing in the...

2 week blood testing for 11yr old son

Hi. My son has been asked to test his glucose level for a two week period after sugar was found accidentally in a urine sample. We have been told not to change his diet as that won’t show what’s happening on a normal day. He is very active and trains 13hrs a week as a gymnast. He is tall and...
