    Nutritional ketosis v’s DKA

I am not on a keto diet, and I produce ketones In my urine. They range from 0.5 to 1.5. My blood sugars are definitely raised but not high . No glucose in my urine. I do a lot of exercise to keep my blood sugars down. But I was very concerned and went to my Dr . He told me as long as my sugars...

    Help with celiac test

You could get genetically tested to see if you have the genetic variants DQ2 and DQ8. if you don’t have those variants then it is unlikely you have coeliac . you could be non coeliac gluten intolerant , which has the same symptoms as coeliac , but without the immune response . If you have either...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

Hi @Chris24Main. Sorry for the late reply. I am back in Canada now, my brain is foggy from the time difference and, of course, the never ending tiredness, but I was able to listen to Dr Robert Cywes' video. I found it fascinating. I liked it his down to earth delivery. I will have to listen to...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

All very interesting @Chris24Main. I am 100% confident my blood is not acidic due to DKA, but exercise induced nutritional ketosis. It causes me problems because my BS sometimes go very low, my liver fails to correct it, likely because I have expended all my glycogen stores. It took me too long...

    Health insurance Canada

Thanks @lovinglife. I returned briefly to the UK in 2018 for 9 months. I was told you needed to spend 6 months in the UK to re-establish residency. It has obviously been updated, which is a good thing.

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

Very interesting post @Chris24Main . I love the analogy. I am going to comment on two points you have raised. Firstly, ketones. My blood sugars are raised and are slowly, slowly rising. I am on meds that have taken 2mmol\ls off my background or natural basal insulin production and whatever off...

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

Low 3's are problematic but high 2's are definitely not normal. When my blood sugars drop into the 2's, I am soaked through with sweat, heart and head are pounding and I'm shaking.

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

Actually, thinking about it @HSSS , I am very likely depleting my glycogen reserves from all the exercise as I was having hypos before I started on the meds.

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

@HSSS I have significant lows and the doctors said they cannot rule out Type 1.

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

I also have fluctuating blood sugars, they call it labile or brittle. I'm on medication that increases insulin secretion, plus I do a lot of exercise, about 25,000 - 30,000 steps a day. My blood sugars are rising slowly, even now. I am having trouble keeping my weight on with a BMI of 19, I have...

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

I totally get you @mcdougall86 on wanting a firm diagnosis. As you rightly point out, it does not matter whether one is T2 or T1. It's about your own peace of mind, and most definitely for the correct treatment and care. As you know your Endo is right, steroids can most definitely cause...

    Hello.

You are so welcome @slinky49 . I have always been into my running. I just zone out. I had a very stressful job and that is how I was able to manage my stress. It helped because I was also a competitive runner. I like swimming too, I can swim for miles, but running was my thing. I didn't do any...

    Broccoli

We have heirloom vegetable seeds here in Canada. I'm sure the UK must have them too. I much prefer the old varieties. My only exception are sprouts. They always tasted bitter, but now they don't.
