What's the best Mother's Day gift you ever received?

My mother isn't diabetic and she is 68 years old, just for reference. My parents are rather comfortable, so it is always difficult coming up with gifts for them. A recent good gift has been "experience" days. You can buy a couple dance lessons, a wine tasting excursion, tours of cities, etc...

Any Help For Type 2 (insulin) British Expats Trying to Return to UK?

Hiya. I am a US citizen so unfortunately, I have no knowledge of immigration (of your wife) from the Philippines nor of returning as an ex-pat, as my husband has never resided anywhere but England. Rules change all the time, and I know the immigration process changed considerably after July...

Not a question but a warning

I know nothing about these shakes so I am neither promoting or dissuading people from using them, just commenting on your post. Are you eating/drinking anything aside from the shakes? Are they meant to replace three meals? I don't know what you were eating prior to the shakes but any time you...

    The SCREAM thread

I feel for you. I suffered the same for about five years or more. It completely wrecks your life. I am much better now; lowering my BG helped a LOT (and also helped my feet/neuropathy), which of course also helped me to sleep better! I hope it gets much better for you as well.

What should be free on the NHS?

I am an American citizen, living in the UK now for nearly five years (due for citizenship later in the year). When I first came as a visitor, it was for two months. During that time, I had to go to the doctor. I was not charged, despite asking the receptionist and the doctor I saw to please...

    Burgen Soya And Linseed Bread

I used to eat this in moderation, toasted, when I could find it. Sadly, it seems to have disappeared from our local Morrison's.

    Bizarre begging letter

As many times as we've all had to purchase Microsoft Office in the past 20+ years, I suspect they can afford it. :D :D :D

    Bizarre begging letter

It's probably as you said; they've mistaken you for a corporate donor. However, have you checked to make sure that the letter is from the actual charity you think it is from (proper letterhead/address/logo, etc.)? There are a lot of questionable 'charities' in the USA that use nearly-identical...

    Forum members talents?

I think being crafty/handy/artistic, able to craft things for one's home is definitely a talent! I know I'd love to be able to do it. I played the piano from age 7 until about 40. I couldn't afford to ship my piano here and there is no room for it anyway. I was never much good, so no huge loss...
