I think the pertinent bit of your post was that your BG had decreased significantly. The fluid in your eyes is noticeably affected by BG and changes with the levels and a big sudden change in BG can mean that the eyes take a little while to adjust, causing blurry vision. I've recently started on insulin and have dropped my BGs significantly over the last couple of months and we chose to do that at a steady rate to try and minimise such issues. Even so, I've had odd days where it has looked like I have a sheet of thin bubble wrap on my glasses. I had a session of a couple of hours yesterday where I just could not focus on the computer screen. Over the last couple of months I've variously worn just about every pair of specs I have with different lenses to optimise my vision on any particular day. It will settle down as your levels become both lower and more consistent. Sharp fluctuations can cause it on a day to day basis, but the better control you get and the more even your readings, the better it will become. So please don't worry, it is to be expected and I'm surprised your medics didn't explain this as they started treatment. As you've noticed, looking to distance and then back improves it - this is something my optician has advised me to do when working - focus at distance and watch something out of the window etc. for a few minutes to relax the muscles. I make jewellery, so spend a lot of time focused close and doing this exercise every 10 minutes certainly helps your eyes from tiring.
