Victoza isn't licensed for Type 1s. There are a couple of recent articles (one of which is here: http://diatribe.org/novo-nordisk-wont-be-pursuing-victoza-type-1-diabetes , http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/825713#vp_1) stating that the outcome of the clinical trials weren't good enough for Novo Nordisk to pursue it as a T1 "add-on". What the trials did show was a significant reduction in weight versus placebo, but to get hold of it as a T1 for weight loss, you'd have to get it "off license". The outcome of the clinical trials doesn't appear to show any significant risk from taking it (although there was an increased incidence of hypoglycaemia and the trial data suggests that it does reduce insulin dosage) but neither did Novo think it provided enough of a benefit to pursue the licensing. Read into that what you will. I suspect without a license you will need to discuss it with a Specialist Endocrinologist and be fully armed with what you can glean from the web regarding the trials that took place. Given the aversion to an increased risk of hypos, it will still be a hard fight. I presume you've tried other mechanisms to reduce your weight, such as eating a lower carb diet, which typically will reduce your insulin needs and as a result help to reduce weight, and controlling calories?
