12 months ago my husband was diagnose with type 1 diabetes. He had a blood test a month prior to this and his g.p advised him that it was normal but a month later he was rushed into hospital with high sugar and keytone readings and advised he would now need to take insulin. He did this for 3 months but then his sugar readings returned to normal and for 7 months he took nothing.... This weekend all of a sudden his sugar readings are sky high and he's back on the insulin. I am confused !!!! is this normal ??

It looks like your husband has been in the diabetic Honeymoon Period (Google for explanation). He should keep a diary of his bg readings and food intake and his DSN will advise him on adjusting his insulin doses.

Also, now that he is out of the Honeymoon Period he should get his name down for a carb counting course such as DAFNE.
