Hi everyone, I’m Kat. 29year old from Dorking :3 I have an odd history with diabetes. Going back through the family my mum was diabetic type 1, aunty from my mums side as well has my gran both the same. My sister is chronic type 1 and my gran from my dads side is type 2! I was originally diagnosed as type 1 when I was thirteen, showing signs of extreme anger, tiredness, over drinking and being overweight. I then lost a shed load of weight and later got diagnosed with type 2 as I was having too many hypos. For a few years I was on medication (metformin) then got to a stage where my diabetes was being able to be managed via diet. 4 months ago I was again put on metformin and have also been diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy but under close eye from my specialist as I apparently don’t fit the stereotypical type 2 profile being under 9 stone so I am having my first fasting blood test to see what my insulin reserve is... worried! Anyways, apart from all that I am a fitness and food freak that is obsessed with finding new things that I can eat on my low carb diet! Well... that’s me! I hope to speak to everyone soon :)
