[QUOTE="jay hay-char, post: 649218, member: 116810"] To echo one of the other posters on here, it takes a while to get you into the system. I was diagnosed in June this year and had a chat with my GP at that point (partly, I suspect, because he is a family friend as well) and had my first review appointment with the Practice Diabetic Nurse in September (but no podiatrist as yet), following a second round of blood tests. I am in the middle of two half days of Diabetic Education right now (background stuff last weekend, dietician and foot care this coming Saturday) and have an appointment in December for a retinal scan. So - it takes a while to get everything going. The Education course that I'm on is at a hospital ten miles away. I asked why I couldn't go on one of the courses that are run at the hospital half a mile from my house, to be told that I could, but would have to wait until the new year because that was the earliest course with places available. It's the old problem of resources versus demand. All of the people who have seen me have been helpful and supportive (albeit I don't always agree with what they are saying) but a lot of people, including me, seem to be left in a limbo for two or three months (or more), to fret without support, having been given some pretty unwelcome news. I've found this forum very helpful, both for finding out stuff that I was uncertain about and for being reassured by other people who have been through the same experience. Like every forum I have ever seen, there are some fairly opinionated people on here, eager to share their worldview with you, so a pinch of salt is sometimes required :) .....but they are very much in the minority.
