Hi All. My name is Gary White. I am 41 and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 3 weeks ago. Quite a mind bend. Plodding through life quite the thing, then...... The fact that my job is as a bus driver was an immediate concern. I have obviously been signed off sick till the DVLA do what needs done. Hopefully my driving licence will not be taken away and I will be able to return to work. I work for one of the largest UK bus operators and unsympathetic is one of the milder terms I will use to describe them. At higher management levels at any rate. Stuff them. In true Trade Union Rep style, I'll fight them all the way. Strange thing all this time on my hands. Been working since I was 18 so this is a total culture shock. Still plenty to keep me busy. My 2 aquariums do that. And the cat too. Anyway thats a breif bit about me. Be good to hear from anyone. I don't know any other diabetics so be great to chat. Also any other proffessional drivers pleae share your experiences re licence, employer etc. Thanks and best wishes folks. Gary I White Gary I White
