Metformin and periods (sorry guys)

Hi
Sorry for the personal question. I have had a Mirena coil for 18 months and my cycle had stopped. I have been on metformin since December and my cycle has returned. Have any other women had similar issues? I know some people get given metformin for PCOS to encourage ovulation which kind of defeats the object of the coil.
Anyone know of any alternatives?

I have a mirena coil and have had it 8 years. Tut tut with me.
It was painful to have it inserted and heard it's just as bad to have removed. Reason why I have never had it removed.
Am nearly 56 and I presume I have gone through the menopause. If I have, then am so lucky that I never had any hot flushes etc.
Am so on metformin
Hope you get an answer.
Oh nearly forgot, if I have not reached the menopause then I have had no bleeding/periods
