I am worried about clogging up my arteries which may be caused by animal fats so I am just taking coconut oil or olive oil which have the right type of fatty acids. I sometimes forget to hydrate myself and may be the cause of some ketones in my urine in the morning.

[QUOTE="nosweets, post: 1644228, member: 452871"] I started suffering from high ketones in my blood when I was on all the drugs and taking the green light foods that the diabetic centre advise. So I may have been starting ketoacidosis as the drugs were not able to deal with the high sugars, but that is now under control on the very low to zero carb diet. I am getting some ketones in my urine but is quite low. The blood glucose monitor has not indicated ketones since I stopped the drugs and changed my diet. I think that the ketosis diet is alright for me and there are some doctors on the internet who advocate this at least in the short term. My consultant asked me to see the low cal diet and research by Dr Roy Taylor. there's a youtube video of his public lecture which is over one hour long on reversing Type 2 diabetes. Anyway there is a whole industry behind ketogenic weight loss as it is used by atheletes and people who want to lose weight. I find it difficult to maintain the very low calorie diets so I am on this one. I think that I have lost about 1/2 a stone and my blood glucose levels are starting to improve. I don't feel hungry on this even though I have to limit the protein intake which will cause the blood glucose to rise, but this should be alright for people on meds. Some people stop the drugs and just live on meat and fat and claim to have sustained that for many years. However since I'm a veggie I dont have the meat but have some energy. I am worried about clogging up my arteries which may be caused by animal fats so I am just taking coconut oil or olive oil which have the right type of fatty acids. I found that taking a tablespoon of coconut oil was able to lower my blood glucose by 4 mmol/l. I sometimes forget to hydrate myself and may be the cause of some ketones in my urine in the morning.
