Rise in diabetes

Hi I'm new on the forum, but I have many friends who have diabetes, but I could'nt help noticing an article in the Reading Chronicle today (4th Nov, 2010) about how there's been an increase in diabetes in the Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire areas, worth reading.

Poor him but encouraging words.... seems cheerful enough, hmm.

Shame he doesn't say how they found out....

I do wish they would not go on so much about obesity and Type 2... many of us certainly were and are not overweight at the ToD. That said I have lost two stone since then and wish I could add some weight never mind losing more!

DM IMHO is to some extent indifferent - it's an equal opportunities plague there for everyone.

Such stats while disturbing may still be the tip of the iceberg. 8)

Read another statistic the other day that 10% of the NHS budget is now spent on treating diabetes! :shock:
