Hi guys been doing real well with my diabetes lately only to fall I'll with a nasty cough that won't shift,
I'm self treating but my bloods have not been under 15 in 24h.
When your sick are you supposed to increase basel insulin by 10 /20% as well as bolus.

do you have keto strips and are checking for ketones?
it's normally just bolus, if you have an illness that's going to hang around for a while, they say you can also bump up your basal a bit as well, check with your nurse

Just wanted to say thank you. The link for the flow chart was so useful.
I followed it for over 2days and although my readings where still a little on the high side it help bring the under 10 and woke thus morning with a 7.2 that's the quickest I've ever got back in control after an spell of I'll health.
I don't know why we are not give this info when Diagnosed instead of a little leaflet.
Thanks again.

I'm glad it was helpful to you. When you aren't feeling well, it's hard to think and the chart is easy to follow..Have you asked to go on a course?

there is an online course and some workbooks in the quote that may be ok for background info
