I am meant to be under a consultant at Weymouth hospital nut have not had any appointments sent for this years check up. I am due a retinopathy scan but haven't booked the appointment yet. I don't know what Statins are, so I am not on them. My aches are in my joints but again I haven't made an appointment to see the Doctor. I also have a kind of numbness, pins and needles in my feet on occasion (such as now). I don't know what Basal insulin is, but I use Novorapid three times a day and Lantus once a day. I used to drink heavily and not test and not care about the diabetes but I have stopped drinking and have been trying to get better control but it has been hard and now I am starting to feel the effects of the not caring years. I have a problem with trust with people and Doctors because of the bum information they give me. I am physically fit and feel that when overweight unhealthy looking nurses tell me that I should be doing certain things that they obviously are not doing, I get a bit angry and ignore them. I have also had a nurse who felt my legs for lumps from injections without asking me, this was in Ashford hospital in Middlesex when I lived there. My blood sugar this morning before breakfast was 6.7. I did not test before lunch but I tested when I got home from work at 17.40 and my blood sugar was 8.3, I then tested before my evening meal and for some unknown bizarre reason it had shot up to 16.2. I did not eat in this period so I am flummoxed as to what happened. This sort of thing happens quite regularly. For example 2 nights last week I tested before bed and my blood sugar was around 8 both nights however on both mornings it was around 19. Again I had not eaten during this time. Yeah Weymouth is a beautiful place, especially in the summer. Looking forward to my second summer here. Thanks for the reply donnellysdogs.
