I was diagnosed with Type 1 at age 51 while living in Singapore and almost immediately started on MDI. HbAc1 on diagnosis was 13.7% (126 mmol/mol) initially down to 7.0-7.5% (53-59) but with lots of hypos, spent next 10 years around 8.0-9.0% (64-75) during a too active crisis management career...
