Recorded message, said they were going to bring a "Lawsuit" against me for not sorting my tax... press 1 if I want to discuss.

and yet HMRC seem to be able to send me a letter every other week telling me my Tax code was changing...

as if they would use a recorded message...

Doh!

May they rot in hell for preying on the unprepared.
 

I tend to use this site: http://uk.whocalledme.net/PhoneNumber/01618508465 if I have a number or a call that seems highly unlikely.

I checked it out by putting my own number in too. Nobody has complained about calls from me,......................... yet!
 

Agree, use that too.
Caller ID is the best thing we've done with our phone... so many from International, out of area, no number given.. they just get ignored..
 
I have my answer phone on permanently with the message "this household does not answer unknown or withheld numbers, if you need to speak to someone please leave your name and number and the nature of your call and we'll get back to you asap"

I also have number recognition so answer it before machine kicks in - works well
