Can anybody advice which timing (1 or 2 hours after meal ) is the best indicator for after meal reading? Recently I had 11.7 after 2 hours , probably it was higher after 1 hour(i did not measure) .

You could test at both an hour and 2 hours. Non-diabetics usually spike highest at an hour (could be slightly longer depending on what was eaten) but are back down to acceptable levels by about 2 hours. There is no need to panic if your one hour reading is quite high PROVIDING you are back down to your personal acceptable level at 2 hours and not staying up there.

Thanks, do you think 11.7 after 2 hours of meal was acceptable?

I would think the 2 hr would be generally of more value at this point. Later, as you learn foods that spike you at longer/shorter time points you can test appropriately.
I found that in a OGTT (70g glucose), I would spike at 45-55 min and was fully recovered by 120min so the 1 hour would almost capture the spike and the 2 hour would show my recovery. A fat laden meal would take much longer to spike!

Depends where you started. Any rise above 2mmol/l is not wise. There are too many carbs in the meal, which need reducing or avoiding. You should aim to be under 8 at the moment. You can reduce this target as time progresses.

It depends I'm often 11-12mmol @ 1-2hrs but back down to 4-5 before eating again. If I'm only 7-8 after 2 hrs i can go hypo before food.

I think it depends on you're life-style mines quite active. The pre-eating readings are the most important.

With all due respect @Richard F you are a type 1 on insulin. The OP is a type 2 trying to work out which foods he can or can't cope with. Double figures is not wise.
