According to my Contour machine, my average seems to be 11.4. I know its too high but I really struggle to get it lower. My readings go from too high to too low, I seldom get a happy medium of 5 or 6. I take 4x500 Met and Novorapid plus Humulin insulin. I need to be careful at bedtime and even if not hungry I need to take some supper to prevent a night time hypo.

Is there anything I can do? I shall of course discuss at my next hospital appt.

I struggled too. I'm on Lantus insulin once daily, Glicazide and Forxiga. The thing which has made a stunning difference to me had been cutting out bread, pasta, rice, and grains - and sugar of course. I'm not lchf particularly but I have reduced the low fat products I used to buy as you do need some to help keep you feeling full. However there are some which I prefer the taste of. I'm getting a slow but steady weight loss and have not had the cravings I have experienced with previous ways of eating.

It is sometimes challenging - no sandwiches for instance but we are eating very healthily but also yummily (if that's a word lol).

It has succeeded to the extent that from 4 Glicazide daily, I am now down to 1 tablet and still staying easily within target.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you. I always have a slice of toast in the morning and a roll for lunch. What do you have to replace these?

I have lidl Turkish yoghurt, which because it is not low fat, contains suffice to to keep me full until lunchtime - although sometimes I feel peckish mid morning and I might then have a small amount of low carb protein such as a few nuts, a small piece of cheese or something like that. I also sprinkle some ground flax on it to up my omega 3 levels, or a few rasps. At weekends I have eggs, or bacon and eggs. Again the proteins help keep you full.

Lunches, especially pack ups present a bit more of a challenge, but I do make soups, all sorts and usually these have some protein in them such as beans or lentils, or even cheese, though beans and lentils do have carbs so limit the quantity. I also pack up salads a lot. I'm not advocating lettuce every day as that would be just too boring, so I will use any veggies either cooked or uncooked. I also have raw veggies with dips. Perhaps some berries too.

Bread is the convenience carb I miss the most. I have tried the lidl high protein roll which is low carb, which a lot of people eat successfully but I can only have about a third of one when my bs is very low or the spike takes a long time to come down. We are all different and it is only by testing that we can see what our bodies can deal with successfully.

Good luck.
