Hi,

my little boy has been feeling really tired, drinking a lot, urinating even more and has developed some behavioural issues- he has not been diagnosed however i was reading up about diabetes as my granny and uncle has it too.

My granny did the finger test tonight and it came up at 12.5 which she said is high but she said that it is different for children.

does anyone have advice on this?

Thanks

Kates

Get him to the doctor. It could be diabetes and if it is, the quicker you get it under control, the better for your little one. It's hard for parents of small children, but ther are several on this forum to help

hya,
i would just like to add that in the meantime if he gets iller plz go to a&e as type 1 diabetics can quickly get ketoacidosis and end up extremely ill,
good luck and let us know how u get on

All children are started off on insulin in hospital if they have diabetes.

With the symptom picture and very high single reading it would be perfectly reasonable of you to go to A and E today, preferably at the same hospital where they have a childrens ward. Some major cities have childrens' hospitals with A and E and even if you have to travel a bit it would be worth getting on with the diagnosis.
