I am considering doing the Newcastle Diet and will see my GP about it next Tues. I just wondered how the 5:2 diet compares with the Newcastle Diet? is there much difference and do they both achieve the same goal? ie to reverse diabetes or regain good control? thanks

They both result in weight loss.
Beyond that, it depends on how your body responds to the weight loss.

The Newcastle Diet is the only diet which appears to have some authenticated history of reversing diabetes under controlled tests.
But any diet can achieve weight loss, which will always be beneficial if that was part of the cause of the diabetes.
