Newbie questions.

1. Just seen the 7 day diet. How about ordinary every day food ?

2. Finger tested for 3 weeks now. Lowest pre-meal 4.8 highest after meal 8.4

Do I really have diabetes ?

Hi @3scorpion ,

Whilst 8.4 is a tiny bit high for a non-diabetic, it's not possible to give you an answer from the data you've provided. You'd need to get a blood test done by your doctor.

Why are you concerned about diabetes?

A few questions, if I may:

How long after you started eating your meal was the 8.4?
What had you eaten to give you the 8.4?
Are you on any medication for diabetes, or any other conditions?
How long have you been diagnosed?

Hi
I am accepting the fact that my surgery has diagnosed Diabetes 2.
But I just wonder if "tiny bit high" warrants the amazing service I have already
received. I am happy to continue testing but wonder if my test results go down a bit
will I be diagnised as Non Diabetic.

2 hours
2 pork rolls, tea, small jelly (quick lunch)
Warfarin
Nearly 3 weeks

So the questions above from @AndBreathe are valid, ( i should have asked them myself). What led to your diagnosis, have you had an a1c blood test done?

What were your blood stats when diagnosed? Did you have an HbA1c or a Glucose Tolerance Test?

The Nurse Practioner did the blood test and came up with 9.2.
Is that HbA1c or tolerance test details ?

Sorry confused and not sure. The Nurse tested me and came up with 9.2.
What is a 1c test \/

The HbA1c test returns an indication of your blood sugar scores over a period of 2-3 months, and it is felt to be a more reliable metric for T2s than fasting tests or even GTT.

Was 9.2 a fasting bg?

If I was you, I'd ask for hba1c and use that result.

9.2 is definitely diabetic

Take deep breaths and don't panic.
It will take a few months for all the information to sink in and for you to get a handle on your condition. As a first step you could try reducing carbs.
If you are carrying too much weight now in the time to concentrate on weight loss. The sooner you reduce your weight the better chance you have of reversing the condition. T2 is not always reversible but significant weight loss as soon after diagnosis as possible can have good results.
Is the warfarin for a heart condition?

Hi
The Warfarin is for clot in my lung. This followed a Bi-Lobectomy ( 2 lobes removed ) operation back in 2010 and the Warfarin is for life.
I like your angle ..... carbs and weight. I have just started a weight program organised by Maidstone Borough Council
and will learn more about carbs.
