I weighed myself this morning (weekly weigh in) and my weight had gone up, not by alot but it was an increase. This got me thinking why...
No surprises really, over the last few days I have had two small pieces of cake, a bit of fizzy wine and a meal out. None of this is excessive but obviously affected my weight loss. I have run out of test strips so couldn't test my BG but think there would have been cause for shock there too.
I have been so good up to now but thought I would be sociable and this has shown me how easy it is to slip into bad habits and how much I must have been eating before my prediabetes diagnosis. I will say no from now on!
That your weight has risen a bit could just be normal variation. Everyone's weight varies a bit, day-to-day, and you may just have been a bit unlucky. Without testing you can't know how your bloods might be. I know I have been, fairly carefully, expanding my diet a bit of late, to include a few more carbs (to make socialising and eating out a bit easier), and thus far my scores haven't suffered too much. Maybe I have borrowed your lucky pants.
It probably makes sense to pick up some more strips and do some testing. (You know you want to. ) If you're going to be a bit down about things, it might as well be because you know your scores aren't what you like, rather than fearing they aren't what you'd like.
Thank you for your reply. I am going to order a new bs monitor from amazon as it is cheaper than buying strips for mine. I will do that now I think looking back I was shocked at how little I had eaten but how it was so many more carbs and that is what I was doing every day.
As you say tomorrow is a new day - and my parents are going home so less temptation!
I'm still keeping mine, six months in. I know that's not a long time, but it keeps me in check, and means I can look at rogue readings, and see any relevant trends developing. I love myfitnesspal. Its imperfect, but it works for me.

I was keeping a food diary but seem to have lapsed. I got a bit complacent when I had my Hba1c and it had gone down. If I'm not careful it will go back up. I must start again.
If it is any consolation, a fair chunk of that weight would be (for me) fluid retention.
I can fluctuate by 5-7 pounds, gaining it in 1-2 days, then losing it in 5 days of low carb. Wheat does it more than anything else. Typical birthday party nibbles - cake, sandwich, crisps, could do it in a single day. And I would be sooo thirsty too, as my body soaks up water.
Likewise, in the days when I used to diet, the water would just drop off for the first few days.
