A cure or not

Being type 1, my health and what really grates me are false people who make themselves out to be something when their not
In the Times today it reports that some sought of cure is on the horizon, would you be cured of diabetes if the choice was available or not or are you set in your ways of dieting etc or would the choice be taken out of your hands by the NHS to save money, this question probably be for the people who've had it for a good few years
 
I think we would all choose the cure.......
Be silly not to.
 
I would have the cure although It is probably aimed at T1's but I wouldn't forget what I have learned about food and would still eat more sensibly than I once did.
 
Almost certainly a cure, you could still stick with any lifestyle changes you have made when you had diabetes.
 
There's something on BBC breakfast telly in a minute
 
I've heard that barbaric surgery is considered a cure (for type 2s) by some.
I would rather have diabetes!

So I guess my answer to your question is that while a cure is a lovely idea, what's the catch?

Edited to add: looks like my predictive text agrees! Should read bariatric surgery, not barbaric! Lol

Initially thought you had something against surgery by those with beards (or was it surgery ON beards)
 
Yes scientists have found a way to generate insulin producing cells so it would have to be done by some kind of transplant but they say is still least 10 years away before they could start using it on diabetics but so good that it is on the way and if I was T1 I would certainly want it

Not being cynical but we type 1's have been here many times before, I won't hold my breath just yet but do hope we see a cure (of sorts) sometime soon
 
I was interested in what people's response was me personally after 40 years I'm still on the line, there is is the question "what's the catch?" It's not going to cure the complications I have but could prevent them from getting any worse

That's it, it would prevent them getting any worse (hopefully) and would stop people getting any more, diabetes can be unforgiving and the sooner it is confined to the history books the better.

Yes they did say for T1's and T2 was not mentioned
 
If we've killed off our beta cells by high blood sugar, or wear out, I would hope if insulin resistance is improved, which it can be in some cases, it would be as easy, if not easier as the auto immune response wouldn't need to be overcome, to help T2's with this method?
 
I am sure there will be a cure one day, hopefully not to far off in the future though
