Duh! I've been getting free prescriptions for 36 years because of diabetes and there I go only thinking of him being over 60. But 50 a month is just stupid. I guess it's time for a riot. I think I said earlier that more testing now means less medical care later so is surely much cheaper than restricting strips.
 
I tend to agree here with Hobnoblin. In the first 6 months we all need to learn to 'eat to our meters'. But once we know what certain foods do the 'need' is lessened. Now my personality type too Type A to ever go donw to a couple times a day only. So after two years I'm still at least a 5-6x a day.. Before each mean and 2 hours after each meal. That's what I'd call the minimum per day to 'never get surprised' at your next HbA1c test. If you're ok with a potential surprise and only want to check a couple times a day -- then check upon waking and 2 hours after dinner or before bedtime.. That would be the absolute minimum I would think anyone would want to do. But we all have different goals. I understand that.
