Hi K,
Morning readings of between 7.8 and 11 before you have eaten are very high and very likely to be diabetes. The reason why your blood sugar level has gone up during the night is because while we are asleep, our livers produce additional glucose to keep us going during the night when no food is being taken on board. This is a perfectly normal body function and in a non-diabetic person their natural insulin production will deal with this so that the BS level on rising is not tremendously different from that at going to bed.
The fact that yours is much higher in the morning is another possible indicator of diabetes, because the night-time rise in blood sugar it seems is not being adequately dealt with by your insulin production.
I imagine that this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but if the extra tests your nurse is arranging do show diabetes, then let us know and we will soon have you in control of your blood sugar again.
