Has anyone on the forum been on the trial?

Not much use to underweight T2s pity.

I've looked at the papers and it has been trialled for Poorly controlledd T2.
Why won't they make so much fuss when t2 improves on low carb?
Obviously, that treatment doesn't make anyone any money.

NOTHING works for everyone and a medication is more likely not to work than low carb, (plus it's more likely to have side effects). If you can show me a person who has stuck to low carb for a while and not improved, it will be the first one I've come across. I've only met people who convinced themselves that it's too hard to stick to. ( which it isn't)

Hi Kansenji,
Liraglutide is almost identical to Byetta, but made by a different manufacturer (Novo Nordisk). Both Byetta and Liraglutide are made from exenatide and they mimic the action of the human hormone GLP-1 in getting the pancreas to produce insulin in response to food intake. Byetta needs a twice daily injection, but the makers are working on a once a week version - due for release in 2009. Liraglutide (which will be manufactured under the name Victoza) is a once a day injection.

I do wonder how successful it will be because it is not due to be ready until 2009, by which time the once a week version of Byetta will be available. I suppose its a bit like the cave man who invented the wheel, only to find that another cave man in the next valley had been using one for years!
