For example, before dinner, I had a hypo. I took one table spoon of honey and then ate food. Now I can't decide how to adjust the NovoRapid: Should I count the carbs of honey (as it was for hypo) or only the food?
Another question, I sometimes take NovoRapid right after the meal. Is it any problem?
If you cover ALL the carbs you eat with insulin, techically you SHOULD return to your starting blood glucose... the aim of the game right?!
Because you were hypo, the honey will take you up to a normal glucose, then you should cover your meal with insulin only. If you cover it all with insulin then you will go hypo again..
I would also test 1 or 2 hours after you've eaten to make sure your not creeping towards another hypo, just to be safe.
I use novorapid with a pump and i bolus before i eat, this is because i am terribly forgetful and would forget if i didn't. Novorapid will start working after around 20 mins, so it won't really matter if you take it before or after eating.
OK, so I did the right thing I covered only the food. I'll check my blood sugar 1 hour later and see what's happening.
Well, I guess in my case it's better to take NovoRapid before eating. My blood sugar has been pretty up and down for a while, especially hypers, so it might help to avoid the spikes.
