Hurrah, love the rebellious spirit!A month or so back, I managed to get a meter out of our locum doc, despite DNS wishes. Was warned that it wouldn't be for long. Only a couple of months. Today the doc agreed to give me the strips on repeat prescription! Yay! Obviously they have given up and are fed up of all the nagging. Every time I see the difficult doc, even in passing, I take great delight in giving him updates on my weight loss and reduction in hba1c levels whether he wants it or not.
Oh and trust me, I asked and I asked and I asked and......Great result, if you don't ask you don't get.
Thank you! Their argument: you're on metformin you don't need to test doesn't hold water. I know it's coz they've got no money and whilst we are all motivated to change (hence the fact were on this forum) many don't want to so there will be folks who take the strips and then don't sort their diet out. (Sadly, I am thinking of a work colleague who was diagnosed at the same time and has done nothing about it. She has admitted this. She is still substantially overweight tooI found them indispensable, good for you.
So what you sayin Bluetit?Well done. Nagging can pay off - anything to get rid of you!
Good to see you Rosie! How's it going?Good on ya!

This is what concerns me most. People who post here are of a certain type. Most if us have found ourselves in a situation where we are shocked, angry, sad, frightened amongst other feelings. But we have enquiring minds and want to do the best we can for ourselves in the future. So we ask questions and find answers. We are also prepared to change. HCP are not used to this. My doc said they've never had anyone who has managed to make so many successful changes and I'm sure that my food diary, readings, questions I've asked and evidence I've produced to back up up my actions helped persuade the doc to give in. This makes me really sad for those people who haven't got the wherewithal to fight their corner.Perseverance, wonder how many people just ask the once and get told NO and give up, or don't even ask at all.

Well done Scandchick....nagging has its benefits. I'm starting to think there's a memo marked SECRET and the subject is "How to deny Type 2 Diabetics Meters and Test Strips" and this won't see the light of day for a very long time lol...I'm such a skeptic
