thanks for the support...
Just got back, she was as pleased as I was with the results.
HbA1c pre-low carb 7.8
HbA1c low carb 5.8
The first thing she said was that I must be having alot of hypos to have an Hba1c at that level! However once I told her that have cut starchy carbs from my diet she didn't question the lack of hypos. ( I have honestly never had fewer hypos - only 2 in the last month)
My cholesterol was 4.26 which she said was a little high, but as you and I all know, that is not where the money is -she has ticked the boxes to have triglicerides and HDL checked next time, so will hope to have a better idea then.
She was very interested in my 'freaky eating' and said that a high protein diet was always recommended for diabetics when she first started out, (she is due to retire at the end of the year) giving you some idea of her age
The other interesting thing was that when I told her that I had found the novorapid 1/2 unit pen to be really helpful she hadn't heard of it. Bit worrying
Was quite good fun really, and she was genuinly pleased and couldn't help but laugh when I told her my insulin doses as they are quite low,
midnight 6u levemir
breakfast 1 1/2 u novorapid
midday 5u levemir
lunch 1 1/2 u novorapid
eve meal 2 1/2 - 3u novorapid
Just wanted to say, if it wasn't for the people on here willing to share their knowledge and spend time conveying it everyone, I would still be at the mercy of my diabetes and not living my life to the full, my only regret is not finding you sooner.
Ta
