A thinly disguised blessing

When my GP give me the news that my blood test showed I had diabetes I could have kissed him ,most of my heavy smoking friends had got the worst possible news and are not here anymore,I feel like the last man standing,
So I feel that diabetes and this forum as given me a second chance and it is not to be wasted

Hello everyone
Wildagayn here ( thinly disguised blessing)
Much has happened to me since I crept on to the forum just a few days after my T2 diagnosis whispering "help"
I have learned a lot , most of the sensible stuff on here .
I have an eye appointment and a referral to a dietician . I am booked on a Desmond course sometime in the next few months ......
I lost round one with the practice nurse at my surgery who smiled sweetly and refused me a glucose monitor . I was charming , simply charming but she rolled her eyes and shook her head .
Mmmmmm I am a determined bunny and know that knowledge is power . I bought one and extra strips and needles .
I test every morning when I wake up and two hours after my main meal .
I read the excellent book by Dr Moseley , "8 week blood glucose diet " from cover to cover .
I watched a film called " fixing dad"
I TOOK CONTROL .... X
I feel better , I have reduced my carbs , and the BG is coming down .
Now I don't feel so overwhelmed or helpless.
A really big thank you to all my new friends on here
Really nice to meet you all
Judith
