Hi. Having reduced my A1c to 45 about 18 months ago, I let my diet slip and my last reading was 54. (Since diagnosis in 2015 with an a1c of 101, my level has gone down everytime). My last visit to my doctor i admitted my lapse but the nurse who I had never met before had no encouraging words for me and made me feel I had failed. I was preparing to come off meds by then if my levels continued to go down. The nurse asked if I would consider changing from metformin to dapagifizin. I declined at this stage and she basically said, well I told you so, I've given you the option, now go and sort yourself out. Has anyone got any advice about dapagliflazin and it's advantages, if any, over metformin?

When my A1c was 88, my GP wanted to increase Metformin to 2 times two 500 tablets per day. I didn't want to, as that was the max, according to Google search, so she added dapagliflazin to my 3 Metformin per day. It didn't bring down my A1c. What did was an emergency, which caused me to look carefully at diet, even though I'm only slightly overweight. I've gone from 88 down to 62 in 3 months, so not as low as your 54. I would be thrilled with 54, but I get that it's direction that is important. I'm just mentioning my circumstance because you asked about dapagliflazin. I'm in no position to advise, but just think encouragement and motivation are so important.
