A1c Due

As you had lost 69 lbs since March 2015, you can probably afford to have put on 6 lbs. If your string test still shows the same waist size you obviously haven't put it on round your middle which is where it would be more likely to have an effect on your HbA1c result.
I think you don't need to dread it.

Well maybe you should dread it if you get the horrible DN - but even she should be impressed by you reductions in HbA1c and weight!

This makes me so cross that people who have worked hard (and even those who haven't) should feel this way because of a DN appointment. Go in with your head held high, who cares what she thinks, if she tries to lecture you then tell her off! What do you think she will say????? You have lost over 4 stone, what is your BMI?

When I come across people like your 'orrible DN I think to myself I have no Mum, no Dad and no spouse therefore there is no one who can chastise me. I am an adult so if someone thinks they can make me feel uncomfortable by looking down their nose at my efforts they get short shrift and a mental backhander.

These kinds of people have what I call 'Shiny Button Syndrome' meaning that their uniform/the fact that they sit behind a desk or counter/have their ID hanging on a lanyard has given them license to say or do anything they fancy and woe betide the client/patient who has the temerity to question their position.

So if your review is with the horrible DN you must impress on her that you know what you are doing, meet her on her own territory with eye to eye contact and body language that tells her 'I am in charge here, you are here to advise and support and no more'.

Yep. Go in determined that you are not going to let the DN bully you. Chances are you now know more about diabetes than she does anyway. Most DN's don't understand diabetes, they just spout the NHS dogma. It's not unusual for weight to go up a few pounds following rapid weight loss. Your body has settled at its own healthy weight, so relax, most don't get anywhere near the sort of weight loss you have managed.

I’m expecting my hba1c to be higher this time as since my diagnosis and op for cancer in Jan/Feb this year I have been eating slightly more carbs normal. Had my blood test last week and DN review due on 23 July but I’m not going to worry too much about it and will enjoy my break in the Lake District next week!
