This is the reason I don't want one. But I am going to follow Mark's journey with this to see how it goes then maybe..Hi
I wear mine about 2 inches from my arm pit so my shirt covers it and i pop a plaster on when swimming.
The libre person will insist it on your shoulder but ive worn mine above my armpit for years.
It is such a massive help to me i don't worry about it at all.
I was puzzled by an article on this site last week where there was a stigma attached to being type 2?
If thats what is bothering you and somebody does ask just explain you are an insulin dependent diabetic which people used to say about type ones many moons ago.
On the rare occasion my diabetes comes to light i receive nothing but sympathy and its all good.
Good luck with it
Tony
Some of the latest thinking in the sports world is around keeping blood sugar levels as flat as possible. There’s quite a few people who aren’t diabetic use them too, I can never understand why? But those are usually the ones who make a show of wearing one
Yes I can see the advantage there most definitely, but I’m more thinking of those “out in the wild” who have seen the “adverts” of Facebook & influencers on TikTok and have thought “I’m getting me one of those” then haven’t got a clue why. It’s an amazing piece of kit for those who need it and know what they are doing. But I also think in the wrong hands maybe not so much & can lead to disordered eating and anxiety because they’ve not a clue what it all meansSome of the latest thinking in the sports world is around keeping blood sugar levels as flat as possible.
the only update I can give until 12 October is I have 2 yellow boxes in front of me (I am sure he said don't open until you are on the course)This is the reason I don't want one. But I am going to follow Mark's journey with this to see how it goes then maybe..
Not been given a choice reallyI use Dexcom as I find it easier but have been poorly so have been stabbing again, until I am better. Could not get on with Libre but that's just me!

Until you have a receiver/reader the Libre 'disk' won't have anything to communicate with and the most useful and informative information comes in the the box with the receiver. I didn't go on a course - 1 was fitted on my upper arm, the receiver/reader switched on (which you have to leave for an hour before it 'accurately' reads your current blood sugar result) and I was sent on my way!.the only update I can give until 12 October is I have 2 yellow boxes in front of me (I am sure he said don't open until you are on the course)
reading between the lines it sounds like a money making thing for Abbott. The pharmacist who called did seem to struggle to find a reason or me to qualifyUntil you have a receiver/reader the Libre 'disk' won't have anything to communicate with and the most useful and informative information comes in the the box with the receiver. I wear my disc on my inner arm as they get knocked off constantly in doorways or bumping into things and I call mine my mother-in-law when it starts 'beeping' at me with either high or low levels!!.
