Don't think this is a good way to manage BG. Like PSS says it could be dangerous.
Very foolish.
How does she get the extra tablets - does he GP not control the prescription?
Are you taking Gliclazide yourself ?
I'm asking because perhaps it is possible to steer the conversation in to the side effects and open a discussion I'm thinking particularly of the possibility of hypoglycaemia . Does your friend drive ? It could be that she doesn't know the risks, or hasn't thought them through.
I think it's really sweet of you to be concerned, but I'm betting that your friend won't make any changes to what she is doing, and of course, you wouldn't want to risk spoiling the friendship. It's a tricky one .

@Alisonjane10 Sorry you feel my remarks were unhelpful.
as long as she is not exceeding the maximum dose and as said by @PSS and @scottish-jim, has enough carb to cover the increased insulin out-put. I guess it's safe enough and better than going into the 20's. however it's just flogging her pancreas more and burning cells, IMO.
TBH, after looking at the side effects, when/if my pancreas can't keep up with LCHF, I would be considering going straight to insulin.Yes Jack412....I agree. X
I really want advice from the members on this forum as to the issues I've mentioned. I don't need to be told that abusing any drug is dangerous or it's not a good way of managing BG. I KNOW that. These remarks are unhelpful at best. Clearly I've asked a question that makes people feel uncomfortable, and i get that. But I need some advice so I can help my friend. Im wondering if I've touched on a subject that happens with SOME diabetics, but isn't talked about.
Ali.
To be fair, you asked if it was dangerous in the thread title, people are just being helpful.
