Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but have been a type 1 for 36 years. Recently got sent an Accu Check Mobile blood glucose meter which in principle is great as there's no strips to mess with and if your say in the supermarket and feeling a bit low it looks like you've got a phone in your hand! However I am finding two major problems with it the first being that it is a bit wasteful on the tests as I'm getting a lot of errors saying I've put the sample on incorrectly and also when comparing the results with my Glucomen meter they are often quite different. Anyone else had these problems with this meter?
 
I balance my finger on the plastic body, mostly on the lancet tool and gently pivot it towards my finger. It wont work that great if you have a smear of blood, works best as a round blob. My actual finger never touches the strip.
 
I had a lot of wasted tests for the first couple of cartridges, but I've got the hang of it now and don't get any miss-tests.
I make sure the blood blob is big enough before I open the test strip cover, and then move the blood slowly to the test strip until it is just touching and the strip draws the blood up. Don't push your finger against the strip. Pull your finger away as soon as you hear the bleep and get the 'Test in Progress' notice.
I can't compare the accuracy as I have only used the Accu Chek Mobile so far, but all meters are likely to have different readings.

I find it easier to rest my hand with the pricked finger on something firm like a table then move the meter towards it. It does need more blood than some other meters. Never touch the strip with your finger. I get very few errors, and probably none doing it this way. I don't use it any more as I have to pay for my strips and these AC Mobile cassettes are outrageously expensive.
 
You can buy the Accu Chek cassettes for less on ebay, around £20 for 2 cassettes (100 tests). I bought 4 cassettes (200 tests) for £26 inc p&p a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not sure if you were replying to me or not, but if so, thank you, but I do know that. I had some bargains from Ebay, but never as cheap as the Codefree!
