Type 2 Accuracy of Countour next One

I've been sent a Contour Next one to try out but I'm dubious about its accuracy

Of all the times I tested only once did it have the same reading as my Accu-Chuek

My testing procedure is to wash my hands, set my pricker to very deep. Wash off first drop then wait a few seconds to have enough blood, then apply it to the meters I'm using.

So what should I do? I'm getting prescriptions for my accu-chek so it's free for me to use that one. I could get my prescriptions changed to Contour Next but is it accurate enough that's my dilemma.

It's kind of irrelevant as you're really looking for trends..
Home meters will always have a degree of inaccuracy but over time they'll even out.
Just choose one and stick with it. Over time your HbA1c levels will show roughly how accurate your meter is.
I changed from the SD Codefree to the Tee2 because the Codefree was consistently higher than my HbA1c levels.
If you are getting strips on prescription than stick with that meter.
There's little point in running comparisons there will always be some variation.
 
Personally I have found the Next system (all the meters) to be extremely accurate in terms of repeatability on the same meter, and also across different Next meters. Absolute accuracy is of course unknown, but I am happy that the Next meters and strips offer me relative accuracy. I have never retested and seen a variation of more than 0.2mmol/L, even when retesting on an older meter with the same strips and same finger.

I tend to find different meters vary between 0.5-1mmol/L, anything more is questionable. from your images, I too, agree it is not that far off between readings. I'm using freestyle libre meter and the Contour next one, it's not that much difference between readings and I like both meters.
 
Also worth noting that I would imagine all of these systems are tuned to offer greatest accuracy within a certain range. It could be that accuracy drifts in the higher ranges. Certainly from a percentage standpoint you would expect so.
 
I like to add that BG meters use to come with control solution liquid thingy to validate the accuracy of your meter. I think nowadays you have to ask for it. I could be wrong. I use to play with that stuff when I was young.

Yeah I got control solution for my accuheck which I use which is why I doubted the "Next" meter instead of the accuchak
 
As @Jim Lahey states I’d be looking for the consistency within the meter. Ie if you test twice or even three times consecutively are the readings the same or close? At least any error is consistent that way.

I use an accu chek mobile and it can vary by more than a mmol in the above test in the 5-7 range. Not overly impressive but I like the cassette rather than strips. I also have a contour next which I liked the look of. Both have Bluetooth to apps which is very useful. The accuchek is bulkier though. I too am incredibly lucky to get my cassette on prescription and don’t want to remind them of this by asking to change to the contour strips. If they stop my script I’ll definitely give the contour a go though.
 
going off on a tangent, but why is a cassette lucky? You get 50 tests in them I see, and each prescription for me has got 100 tests. Because I use gliclazide I have to test before driving too, so that's 4 tests a day

It’s lucky I get testing supplies on prescription rather than which particular item it gives me as I’m not on glucose lowering meds. My wonderful DN believed at diagnosis it was beneficial for me in order to be able to control my diabetes once she saw I’d already done my research before seeing her and was planning low carb etc etc and could see i would use the information it gave me. A Gp at the surgery before this told me testing was unnecessary and would damage my fingers! Hence my worries it could get revoked at any time.

There are no little bits of paper to fiddle with, drop, lose or dispose of. A little quicker and more self contained along with the fastclix that attaches to the side of the meter. Everything I need in one unit.
