does anyone have any experience with addenbrokes diabetic care? I just ask as I have read they've won awards and was thinking of transferring to their care. My hospital isn't bad I just don't know if I'm getting as much care as I could. I've never used another hospital so not sure?! It's abit further away than mine so would like to know if they're good before deciding!

I have no experience of their service but with the number of members on this site I am sure somebody will have.

But what I can say is that it is a teaching hospital which means they will always be at the cutting edge of developments. It does not surprise me they have won awards for this service but that does not mean the person you see on the day would be any better than the person at your hospital.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes I hear it's where all the student doctors go to learn. Ive been told they're very pro pump whereas my hospital aren't really interested in new technologies that are coming around. Apparently mine don't even like to let people trial them. Hopefully someone will comment that has had experience with them

Diabetes clinics are always worth using. I've used the wolfson diabetes clinic at Addenbrookes for several years -- some of the care has been of varying quality, but they have been good at ordering a whole range of tests that other people have struggled to get, and they have some pioneering specialists there as well. Definitely worth a try

I'm at addenbrooks as well, and no complaints so far other than the general slow pace of anything NHS related, but that's not their fault really.

They've been very supportive of me getting a pump, and as flexible as they could be around my work schedule and there are one or two DSNs who are very knowledgeable indeed. As Desi points out above they are also involved in some of the cutting edge stuff through the links into the university
