Hello, I am new to this site and any info would be greatly appreciated.I have been to the doctors lately with repeated Thrush in my throat, which doc said is rare.My sister in law who has been Type 1 diabetic for years, said thrush is common in diabetics so tested my fasting glucose with her meter and it was 8.4mmol, next day 8.2 and 11.1 on another occasion. So I bought my own meter as I have been visiting the bathroom between, 3- 7 times a night, waking up sweating, feeling very lousy, thirsty etc. None of my fasting levels have been below 7.2, apart from after a 3 mile jog, when it was 5.5 after not eating all day.I have taken 2 readings 2 hours after food, first was 11.1, then 9.3. I recently had a HB 1AC done which returned normal, so I didnt tell the doc about my readings.I had gestational diabetes 5 years ago but was not checked after the baby, my father was diagnosed with late onset Type 1 at 62, but apart from that I am slim, eat healthy and run 2-4 mile a day.Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Hi daisy from another daisy! Welcome to the forum I'm afraid we cannot tell you if you have diabetes or not. However, your levels are high. I suggest you ask your doctor to give you a GTT test which should tell you if you are diabetic.

In the meantime, to help you get your levels down, here is some basic information which should help you.

Hi Ankita and welcome to the forum.
I expect you have already read the information for new members that I posted above. If your sister is type 1 then yes, she will always need insulin, but if she turns out to be type 2, she could control it by diet, take some medication other than insulin, or need insulin. This would be the doctor's decision which could change depending on how she gets on. She can help by maintaining good control as explained above. I hope all goes well for her.

hey daisy.....could u plz help me with some information regarding,wt could b the probable complication being a female

Hi, an update to my previous post.I really need advice off you guys to know whether to go and see a GP (as I really hate going unless something is really wrong!) I have been monitering my own blood glucose for a few weeks, seeing it go as high as 13.8 mmol after a meal.A few days ago though, I felt very shaky & dizzy, so I took my reading and it was 3.4mmol, thinking this was low I had a banana and a cookie but didnt feel better for about 1-2 hours later. Then I went for my usual run of 2 1/2 miles and felt really shaky and strange again, so I had a can of lemonade and felt a little better but ran out of testing strips.I thought only diabetics on medication could get blood sugar as low as 3.4.Any advice will be truly welcome :?
