I don't think I have made myself very clear

For 9 years I have been on diet and excercise only - averaging 120-140 and been very happy with that - so has my doctor.

Only over the last two weeks has it been at 200+ and as a result my Doctor put me on Metformine.

This was my first reading after taking it.

Before this I might have had 2 sanwiches and two pints while watching the sport on tele.

I have been used to eating and drinking anything I want and that includes the last four weeks (average reading 250)

When I went onto the pill my expectation was that the reading would go down - not soar to 370, over a 100 more than I have ever been

Sorry guys - it's not the sandwich

Cheers

Bob

Quite honestly Bob I would go and discuss this with your doctor,it sounds as though something has changed and may need further investigation.(we can argue about bread, beer and sandwiches another time! )

Hi Bob,
The metformin is not going to work straight away. Some people find it kicks in after about a week, some a little longer.
Catherine.

i too would go bk and see your gp

Thanks All

I didn't expect a miracle cure and was happy to wait a while as it slowly came down but, on the other hand I was not prepared for the 100+ surge for no apparent reason. Even now I have no idea what the danger level is and how long you have to be there. For all I know the surge is normal and even a few weeks at 400+ will not crash my kidneys or make me blind. On the other hand 2 days over 300 might kill me. I need to access this information somewhere and have been unsuccessful, so far

I can't do much until Monday to see my Doctor again and if this is difficult. Nice as he is, he can't speak a word of English and my French does not include technical medical issues. We have been comfortable with our health care for 10 Years here now.

If it's down to under 200 by Monday, I'll give it another week, and so on

I just felt the panic at something I could find no rhyme or reason for and was concerned at my lack of knowledge about the process

I'm still looking for a site where the whole issue is explained, step by step, with anease that suits my 70 years and lack of medical terms.

Don't give me up yet - once i'm stabilized I hope to add to the forum.

Cheers

Bob

Have a good weekend
