In a few times im going abroad on holiday & im now on humlin insulin as well as metformin tablets.. i have heard that with the medication im on that i need a letter from my gp stating what meds im on.. but when i started on insulin my diabetic nurse explained that she would do it for me and therefore she has... question is though.. do i still need a letter from my gp?
Basically, you need an official letter explaining that you need to take the insulin on board the plane and you have needles with you. I think mine is signed by the nurse.
Make sure you keep the insulin in your hand luggage (the hold gets too cold). I would also recommend taking at least twice as much medication as you think you need.
Thanks helen i will order another set of insulin asap... i do have up too now 7 pens which i keep in the fridge... when i use a pen i keep it in a cupboard along with sharps box an booklet ( which i record what ive taken).. my diabetic nurse has given me 2 letters and they are both signed by her.
