Thanks daisy. I have been type 2 for about a years. The trouble I have is controlling it. I work odd hours sometimes starting very early so do not eat anything till the evening and that may only be a sandwich. Sometimes in hotels and away from home so no breakfast etc and when I do eat its normally rubbish food. Any ideas for snacks for people like me.?

Best thing to do and i know its a pain but prepare before bed and put in the fridge . I try take loads of stuff out with me each day - I work long hours.

What i did was buy loads of those plastic containers i take 3 with me each day 1 with a meal 1 with snacks and 1 maybe a soup i made at the weekend i put them in the freezeer to take each day usually carrott and onion soup with lots of pepper mmmm

I snack on

I take a salad usually cucumbers lettuce cherry tomatoes olives etc just put loads of it on one container
Nuts either mixed unsalted if im being extra good or if not dry roasted
Grainy crackers
Apples
Grapes
Cheese
High meat content low carb sausages again you can cook them and either put in fridge or freezer to take
Fridge raiders chicken bites (not sure they are that healthy or not but they are low carb and get them from those small tecos if on the go)
a low fat yogurt

Hi. keep eye on the "salt" contents with dry roasted peanuts try handful of almonds or pumpkin seeds instead? also the chicken raiders pkts are very salty too. Try small slices chicken flash cooked in pkts from aldi [theyre very tasty too] try jacket potato [medium sized] n take a tuna n sweetcorn filling or cottage cheese with diced peppers? to break up the salads! nibble on few grapes apple carrot n celery sticks? small bag of mini cheddars are okay n lower in carbs n just enough to give you an energy boost without doing too much damage? remember to still test BS then you can find your own level with what does n dosent work for you. Write things you DO like down n list of DONT likes then you can see whisch way n direction to go in... I myself did this n it helped me so much instead of thinking up meals n snacks in my head. Let us know how you go on as there must be loads of others with varying jobs on the move n go too. Anna.

WOW MINI CHEDDARS! i always loved them you reckon they are ok then to have if a small multi pack bag? Ive knocked the potato crisps and maize snacks on the head since diagnosis just over 6 weeks ago. I do miss them though weep weep oh well lol

Hi , theyre low in salt n low carb snack sized bag, few insulin users have a bag in evenings [occaisonally thou] not every nite! to prevent hypo in the sleep. Plus it does give you a little bit of what you fancy too. Anna.
