I find that I have to increase my levemir during the warm season and reduce it during winter. It increases by as much as 15%. All health professionals and other diabetics I have spoken to do not recognise this phenomenon. Changing my humalog does not help my control. I have been a diabetic for 38 years.
Does anyone else experience this need to increase their background insulin during the summer?
I'm the opposite, need slightly less basal in spring/summer than I do in the colder seasons of autumn & winter.
This subject comes up quite often on the forum, there's many members like yourself @CJa who need more insulin in the summer, it just goes to prove how different we all are.
btw, surprised your diabetes team haven't heard of his happening before.
