I struggle with my T2 Diabetes and asked the nurse if Insulin would help. She replied, you are too old for insulin.
I am old but fit and active.recently I was refused an operation because of age. There is little doubt that the elderly are not getting the treatment that younger people get. I worked for 50 years and paid in all that time so feel that I have paid my way.
So if her advice is right then I would love to know what she says to Type1's when they get older. Does she expect them to stop insulin?
I know of two Type2's who started insulin in their 79th year. It is more than likely that she will be unable to explain what you need to do. As for the operation, what was the excuse given to you?
Very often people think they are seeing a Diabetes Specialist Nurse at their G.P.'s surgery. It is usually a Nurse with little experience of diabetes and some seem to make it up as they go along.
Go and see your G.P. and repeat what she has said to you.
