Alcohol

I fancy a gin and tonic tonight. It will be first drop of alcohol since diagnosis. Can I drink flavoured ones or does it need to be white gin?
Would a wine be better or a prosecco? Red, white? Not sure. Looking forward to one drink with bbq and football later.

Been a few threads on alcohol lately. With beer it can be 6g carbs per pint, Coors Light, up to 18g of carbs, Guinness. Only your meter can tell you if they are OK or not. A nice dry wine can be very low in carbs but watch the effect of alcohol on the liver. It will prioritise dealing with alcohol so many experience low blood sugar. Vodka/Wine/Gin are pretty much zero carb so just watch your mixer. Enjoy the game.

beware the flavoured spirits tend to have added sugar... its why they taste so good...but they don't have to have nutrition labelling so it can be difficult to get carb values.
Testing seems to be the only way

I would stick to a good normal gin like Bombay blue, and slimline tonic.

Be aware “light” tonics like feverfew have sugar in.
